Peacekeepers
Thank you. Thank you for the job that you do protecting
society and instilling law and order. Thank you for the dangers that you face
and the sacrifices that you make so that the rest of us can live in peace and
safety. Thank you for your willingness to put your own life at risk for the
benefit of others. I know that some people do not appreciate you or your
work. I know that some people have a slight regard for the dangers that you
face. I know that some people only complain about you until the day they need
you. However, I thank you, I appreciate you and I am thankful that you are
there.
There was another who was willing to make a sacrifice for
others and put the need of others before his own life – that one is Jesus
Christ. The reason we have criminals, courts and prisons is because of the
effect of sin. People are thieves, murderers and rapists because they are
sinners. The problem is that “all have sinned” (Rom. 3:23). Some people allow their sin nature to manifest itself in more heinous ways that others, but
the truth is that every one of us have sinned against God and society in one
way or another. Romans 6:23 tells us the penalty of that sin, “For the wages
of sin is death…” This death is not only physical but also a spiritual
existence apart from God in what the Bible calls the “lake of fire,” (Rev.
21:8). Most law enforcement officials have experienced the frustration of a
criminal “getting off” because of a “technicality.” However, that will not be
the case before the Judge of all the Earth, the Lord Jesus Christ, because the
Bible says, “Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to
them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world
may become guilty before God,” (Rom.3:19). The Bible also tells us that those
(everyone) who have sinned against God will experience two deaths, “And death
and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And
whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of
fire,” (Rev. 20:14-15).
The good news is that Jesus Christ came and voluntarily
offered Himself as the Lamb of God on Calvary’s cross to pay for man’s sin and
save us from this eternal fire (Rom. 5:8; He became sin for us…; by the
sacrifice of himself…). This payment for sin can only be appropriated by faith
(For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is
the gift of God: not of works, lest any man should boast,” (Eph. 2:8-9). A
person cannot be good enough, religious enough, rich enough, or
self-sacrificing enough to secure forgiveness of sin and the salvation of their
eternal soul themselves. That is why Jesus came (“Not by works of
righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us…”Titus
3:5). Salvation is a free gift paid for by Jesus Christ on the cross. This
free gift, as with all other free gifts must be received and John 1:12-13 tells
us, “But as many as received Him, to them gave He the power to become the sons
of God, even to them that believe on His name: which were born, not of blood,
nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.” Romans 10:13 tell us how, “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
If you would like to receive this free gift of eternal life
you can, right now – right where you are. Pray to God and ask Him for this
wonderful gift. Pray sincerely from your heart something like this, “Dear Lord
even though I am involved in law enforcement I realize that I have broken your
laws and sinned against you. I also realize that I need Jesus Christ as my
Savior to deliver me from the just punishment of my sin and now call upon Him
asking Him to forgive my sins and save my soul by His grace. I now take Jesus Christ
and Him alone, as my Savior. Amen.” If you prayed this prayer, on the
authority of the Word of God, you are saved (I John 5:13). The next thing you should do is find a good Bible believing church and tell the pastor that
you have received Christ as Savior. If you would like help finding a good
church in your area please contact the church printed on this pamphlet. If you
would like some free literature to help you in the Christian life please write

your life and thanks again for all you do for society.
